From Dawn to Dusk
by Chris Lane 9 September 2020
I wrote these words in a recent annual worship group report.
And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God.
When I first listened to the song ’Goodness of God’ it spoke to me about the faithfulness of God. As I have been listening to it again whilst out walking, it spoke to me in a different way with the words…
‘Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me,
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me.’
These words reminded me of Psalm 23.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
In the Message version of the bible this reads: -
“Your beauty and love chases after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of the Lord for the rest of my life.”
Andy reminded us in his Sunday morning service at the end of August that our life is not just the here and now but into eternity. The psalmist says surely goodness and mercy. Not maybe. Not might. Not possibly. Not there’s a good chance.

In the good times, in the difficult times, God is with us, before us, behind us, beside us, filling us with his goodness through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He never lets go. He follows us. He is with us.
Let us Pray
I thank you God for your faithfulness, for staying with me, for holding onto me, and for your goodness to me. I praise and thank you always.
“From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head” - God is with me, His goodness is with me, all the days of my life and in eternity.
