My Troubled Soul

So here we go again! As I write this thought we have just entered a second lockdown as cases of Coronavirus begin to rise rapidly.
It can be so easy to become overwhelmed by the whole situation. Restrictions on what we can do and who we can see, concerns for the health of those we know and love, and no sign of the situation ending any time soon. On top of this as we move from autumn into winter with short cold days and long nights, it is no wonder that we can feel helpless and burdened by everything that is going on.
It is in situations like this that it is important that we bring all our burdens and concerns to the Lord. How can we do this? - I have just read an article that suggests the following four steps to “get out of the pit”.
1. Say it. Tell God exactly what your burdens are. Say it loudly and speak it from your heart, as you bring your concerns to God in prayer.
2. Soak in scripture. Open your bible and search for what it has to say about the issues that are troubling you.
3. Sing, sing, sing! Sing worship songs that are based on biblical truth. Our burdens can make us self-centred - our problems, our feelings, our situation. Singing worship songs helps us to take our eyes off our problems and focus on our awesome God.
4. Surround yourself with warriors. Don’t suffer alone. Share your burdens with Christian friends or people you can trust. These people will support and encourage you as you deal with your concerns.

You know the concerns of my heart even before I ask. In these uncertain times hear my prayers, take the burden from my shoulders, and help me to remember that you care for me.
