Sharing Our Faith Together

A constant in our ever changing world

by Jane Smith 31 October 2020

Things aren’t getting any easier are they? It’s becoming more difficult to remain positive and everything seems to change so frequently - face to face worship again being suspended, guidelines, tiers, recommendations etc.

How fortunate we are to have something as constant, solid and sure as The Word of God, to help us through these difficult times.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect:The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.

Knowing we have this incredible resource we must use it, as God intended, both to reassure ourselves and to help others who are struggling.

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Luke 11:28 He replied,“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Quite recently I came across the following quote from Billy Graham’s book ‘The Heaven Answer Book’. I hope it speaks to you as deeply as it did to me.

‘Reading God’s Word and meditating on it’s truth will have a purifying effect upon your mind and heart, and will be demonstrated in your life. Let nothing take the place of this daily privilege.’

Let us pray

Heavenly Father, Please take away the doubts and fears in our lives, remind us to turn to Your Word and to stand on every promise of Your Word every day.

Amen
