A Humble Heart

As I read my daily notes last week, it mentioned a song called The Humble King by Brenton Brown. This was unfamiliar to me so I listened to it several times and it has been in my mind ever since.

A Humble Birth
Jesus, born in a stable in Bethlehem, the son of a carpenter, surrounded by animals, lying in a crib that was meant to be a feeding trough.

A Humble Life
Jesus didn't seek to be with those in power but sought out those who were marginalised, the leper, the poor, those in need.

A Humble King
Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane just before his arrest. Jesus clearly didn't want to go through with it. He was praying and asking God to release him from it.  But in the end, in humility, obedience and complete surrender, Jesus says, 'not my will but yours'. A truly humble King.

So I kneel at the feet of the humble king and pray that I, through the power of the Holy Spirit, may have a heart like Jesus, a humble heart, ready to serve Him.
I pray that He will be my guide as I live my life and that He will teach me to walk in his footsteps in humility and love.

What will your prayer be?
