A Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Humans cannot survive long without hope. It is the thing that keeps us going through the pain, anxiety and fear that life brings our way. There can be very few of us who haven't encountered any obstacles at all, whether small or large.

The Bible reminds us that the living hope given to us by the resurrection is not just an echo of the events of the past, ‘He is not here, for he has risen’ Matthew 28:6, it is also part of the present and a truth we can trust for the future, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.' John 5:24.

As Andy said in yesterday's Easter Sunday service “A resurrected living Jesus changes everything”!

Prayer
Lord, quicken our hearts and minds. Change our thoughts, words and actions. We ask this, and all our prayers through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our salvation and our living hope.
Amen

This is a favourite Easter song, I hope you will raise your voice to sing, “See, what a morning, gloriously bright with the dawning of hope in Jerusalem,”  …and in every heart and mind that is open to receive it.
