A Step of Faith

Matthew 14 v 25-31
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

As we go about our daily lives, we may feel comfortable about the way things are ,and don’t feel the need for change. We are quite happy with everything as it is, and don’t want to ’ Rock the Boat ’ as it were and try something different. We may think that everything is ok so why change, but sometimes God has other ideas!
He may want to take us in a different direction altogether, but it will mean leaving our comfort zone. Are we ready to do that? but if we really feel strongly that God is leading us into new territory we need to ’ get out of the boat’, trust in Him completely and take that step of faith but I suppose, like Peter, we are afraid. Verses 29-31 remind us that if we don’t, we may miss out on what God has for us. I know it is not easy and we may feel that we are not ready but he knows our capabilities and he won’t lead us into anything that we wouldn’t be able to do. If we trust in Him we can do anything!
Jeremiah 29 v 11 reads, For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Life is a journey with God as our leader .We don’t have to walk alone.

Thank you Lord that you are always with us wherever we go. We thank you for your Love for us and everything that you do for us.
