An Abundant Life

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
As we approach the end of the year, there can be few of us who will not be glad to see it go. Although we have tried to be as positive as possible, the continuing global pandemic of Covid 19 has seen many people lose loved ones, suffer financial hardship because of lockdowns and lack of work, endure the heartache of loneliness and not being able to spend time with family and friends. As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour this year, may we be reminded afresh that, as the second part of our bible verse says, Jesus came that we might have abundant life in Him. That is not to say that those who follow Him are exempt from the day to day challenges of the world, but it does mean we have the strength to face them and the assurance of an eternal life to come.
