Are We Going to be OK in God’s Grace?

When Jesus left his disciples following his crucifixion and then placed in the tomb, I wonder how many of these followers for three days posed the question ‘Are we going to be OK?’ Then the miracle when he rose from the dead and appeared to most of them in the upper room perhaps hiding away fearful of what was going to happen next. Did they ask again ‘Are we going to be OK?

As the activities beyond their understanding rolled out the faith in their master focused on them and their weaknesses may not have gone away. However God’s grace never left them. When the Holy Spirit came as promised by Jesus, it removed the fear of man replacing it with an almighty power.

Acts 2 v 43-47 - Life among the Believers

Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles and everyone was filled with awe. All the believers continued in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. They would sell their properties and possessions and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. Day after day they met as a group and they had their meals together in their homes eating with glad and humble hearts, praising God, and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

The power of the Holy Spirit is not just an event of history blessing a limited number of people of a certain land and language. People’s of many lands experienced what had happened to God’s Son and were touched by God telling and showing them them the future. Many accepted the fact they had sinned, were baptised and shared all they had because they recognised they were dragged down with themselves.

Is it possible for 2020 man to eliminate from his thoughts ‘Am I going to be OK’ and replace it with ‘God is going to change me and the society I live in’?

Prayer

Father God in your power we are going to be OK because more and more the ‘I’ factor is going to be removed as we commit our lives to be taken over by the working of the Holy Spirit.

Change us, Change the society in which we live.

Amen
