Brief Encounter!

Two people meet by chance in an unusual place and strange circumstances, they are instantly attracted, form a loving relationship that develops beyond imagination and lasts a lifetime.

What am I describing?

Is it a film – could be from the title.

Is it a very broad description of a typical couple’s relationship in life?

Does it describe how you found your own husband or wife?

Actually it is a reference to a bible story.

If you want to read it it’s John Ch 4 : 7 – 26

It is of course, the story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well and asking her for a drink. She had gone there to get her water at midday when it was hot, hoping that because she was Samaritan she would not encounter anyone else collecting water. But, as we know from the scripture, she met Jesus and he offered her water of a very different kind! In that moment she finds salvation and blessings for life beyond her imaginings and wildest dreams.

So - Two people meet by chance in an unusual place and strange circumstances, they are instantly attracted, form a loving relationship that develops beyond imagination and lasts a lifetime!

Maybe as we carry out the most mundane and uninteresting tasks we should be mindful of a possible ‘brief encounter’ that could change our life – for ever!!

So there is a river – the river full of life, and by God’s good grace it will NEVER run dry. I find that thrilling and exciting – hope you do too!
