God’s Garden

First published 1/2/2021. We continue to post new thoughts but hope you find encouragement and blessing in revisiting some we have previously published.

I was sent a poem recently and it turned me to God’s word as I read each verse, and was reminded of this familiar song.

Plant three rows of peas
1. Peace of mind
2. Peace of heart
3. Peace of soul

Matthew 22:37
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Plant four rows of squash
1. Squash gossip
2. Squash indifference
3. Squash grumbling
4. Squash selfishness

Philippians 2:14-15
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God's perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky.

Plant four rows of lettuce
1. Lettuce us be faithful
2. Lettuce us be kind
3. Lettuce us be patient
4. Lettuce us really love one another

Galatians 5:22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

No garden is complete without turnips
1. Turnip for meetings
2. Turnip for services
3. Turnip to help one another

1 Corinthians 15:58
So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord's service is ever useless.

To conclude, our garden we must have thyme
1. Thyme for each other
2. Thyme for family
3. Thyme for friends

John 15:12
My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you.

In God’s garden we need to read His word both on our own and in a group, take it to our hearts, and cultivate it with love.

As we worship God each day by the way we live our lives, may we know His power in our life.

Water freely with patience and cultivate with love.
There is much fruit in your garden because you reap what you sow.

I will worship You with all of my heart
And I will worship You with all of my mind
And I will worship You with all of my strength
For you are my Lord
You are my Lord
