How Is Your Soul Today?

Well, what a question with which to start the day!
A Prayer
Lord of the morning, we give thanks for this new day with all it’s joys and challenges. We acknowledge that today will be unique, we will never experience this day again – one similar perhaps but not identical, so we pray that you will give us we need to make it special.

Matthew 22:34-40
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’
Jesus replied: ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’
It’s titled ‘The Great Commission’ or the two greatest commandments. In the first we are encouraged to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind. The second, as you know, is to love your neighbour as yourself.
Please spend a moment or two considering that first commandment to love God.
Love God with all your heart – perhaps in a similar manner to earthly love of each other, couples, parents, best friends etc.
Love with all you mind – well here the intellectuals get into their stride, all the facts, all the details and research ‘wow’ love overload!
But how do you love with all you soul? This one is a bit more tricky, I guess it’s more that feeling, that deep down peace, that only comes when the Holy Spirit is embedded in your very being and a true peace is experienced that will overcome everything the world can throw at us. Even virus, lockdown, isolation etc. all become less of a challenge, when all is well with your soul, allowing it to love and be loved.

Prayer
Lord today give me peace in my soul, that I may also experience the touch of your hand to give guidance and encouragement so that your love will prevail.
