Sharing Our Faith Together

How Many Blessings…?

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, I recently came across an article about Jerry Clower, an American comedian. Before taking to the stage in the 1970's, he had a variety of jobs after the second World War including a crop seed and fertiliser salesman. He developed a reputation for telling funny stories to boost his sales. A staunch Christian, Clower was well known for his faith and often made references to God in his stories, saying his faith kept him happy and able to make others laugh.

One of his favourite sayings was reported to be “Lord, my cup runneth over and slosheth into the saucer”.

Whether we realise it or not, most of us have more blessings than we can count and Psalm 103:2 reminds us,  “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Today, I invite you to pause and take stock of the benefits and blessings you receive from our heavenly Father. You could even write them down and keep the list where you can see it often. Your list may not stretch to 10,000 reasons, but the ability to recognise your blessings and to know the God who gives them should definitely be included.
