How often the words above have been heard over the years, reminding us of that remarkable man, Martin Luther King. No doubt he had many dreams, just like the rest of us.
MLK however was trying to focus people’s minds on the possible future of change that was more like a 20th century vision where all men would be equal whatever colour, race, religion, gender etc.
The question is, are dreams and vision the same thing?
In the bible a number of people had dreams, perhaps the one that immediately comes to mind is Joseph, in fact his brothers called him the dreamer
Reading: Genesis 37
It is miraculous that dreams follow Joseph through bad times and good. However, he knew that it was not him who was at the centre of them and their interpretations, because he was aware of God’s work.
Perhaps we all need a dream or to pray for a vision, as we continue in this pandemic, that all people may be vaccinated against its power.
In doing this perhaps just as the song says that God has dream realised in you and me.
Is it wrong that we pray for something almost outside possibilities?
How much do we believe in miracles? Surely what has happened in the laboratories around the world in discovering a way of combating this evil in one year, something which normally take ten, this surely is a miracle! Who knows how many involved in this work could have had visions, but we must thank God for them.
As we started this morning ’God had a dream’. The pandemic was not God made but God knows how to work with and through man.

Pray
The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine on you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you an give you peace.
Amen
