Sharing Our Faith Together

Introducing Explorers Holiday Club

by Peter Blount and Sue Muessig 24 July 2021

Good morning and welcome. Below is an image from 2018 Holiday Club at Newmount and as you can see it was called Space Academy.

This year’s Holiday Club – yes there is one – is called ‘Explorers’ but it will be very different.   As I’m sure you will have seen from the news sheet, because of the current circumstances we are working purely ‘online’ again, with 17 children signed up to take part in various activities throughout the week.

‘The daily thought’ for this week will follow the same theme as holiday club and you will see the same video clips as the children.

It is hoped that, not only will you follow/share the activities, but pray for each child taking part.

Throughout scripture we often find Jesus himself finding time to talk to children or using them as examples in the complicated scenario called life.

Matthew 19  v13–15  The Little Children and Jesus
13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Just three verses that reveal Jesus determination that the youngest would have opportunity to ‘find’ Jesus and the life He offers.

Perhaps you can recall, as a child (physically or spiritually) when you first met Jesus.  Recall the simplicity, the delight, the excitement and limitless possibilities – this week we shall be praying that our Holiday Club will afford that same initiative to our local children.

Here is a song you may recall from Sunday School

YouTube shows adverts which may not be appropriate to the video we have selected.

Prayer
Heavenly Father today we lift up Sue before you, giving thanks for all the hard work she has put into this Years Holiday Club, for creating an online portal and maintaining contact with the children throughout lockdown.

We ask now that all that work will find acceptance in your sight and bring blessing to our Holiday Club children and their families.

In Jesus name we pray.
AMEN
