Jesus the Bread of Life

Bible Reading: John 6 v 30-35
We were away for a few days in the North Yorkshire Moors. As our location would be a little remote, I downloaded names and phone numbers of a few places that were local to where we were staying, where we could get meals. I had checked beforehand that they were open, and whether we could just call in, or whether we would have to book.
Largely the advice was to book before you arrive, to avoid disappointment.
And so on the evening of our arrival, I did as advised and rang one of the places to book a table. Only to find the number constantly engaged. Unable to book, we arrived at the Inn unperturbed and thankfully was allocated a table. When challenged about ringing to book, we were advised, "Oh! Its no use ringing, its always engaged. You are best to email!" Hmmm! I thought.
The whole situation made us realise, how reliant we are on food, and how challenged we can be by the current situation, even with 'lockdown' easing.
It was also a great reminder of how accessible and available our Father God really is in comparison. He provides our spiritual food on a daily basis, without us worrying about having to pre-book, or him not being available, or too busy.
In verse 35 we read ‘Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me
will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” Let us never take him for granted.

Prayer
Thank you Father that in Jesus you meet all our needs. That you are always available and accessible, no matter who we are, where we are, or how we feel. Help us never to take you for granted. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
