Knowing You Jesus
by Chris Lane 25 February 2021
Following the news that Dennis has gone to be with our Lord, it caused me to reflect on Newmount Worship Group.
Many years ago he was preaching at Newmount and asked me if the worship group could provide some worship prior to the start of his service at half past ten. Following on from that he asked if this could happen each week so people could enter God's house and prepare for spending time with God. What a blessing that has been, both for those entering and for the worship group as they lead.
Dennis brought many songs to Newmount that he had heard when travelling as a local preacher to different churches. He would bring a copy of these songs for me to look at. One of these was a song that we have used several times on this website page.
‘Hide me now under your wings,
Cover me with your mighty hand.....
Find rest my soul in Christ alone,
Know His power in quietness and trust.’
Throughout Dennis's life his desire was for others to know God and to rest in Him.
Another song Dennis brought to Newmount was 'All I once held dear' by Graham Kendrick. Graham Kendrick was inspired by Philippians 3:10-11.
‘All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death, in the hope that I myself will be raised from death to life.’

Dennis lived his life answering God's call.
Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.”
Let us pray
Father we thank you that through the power and presence of you in our lives, you can do amazing things. Thank you for the encouragement given through Dennis for our worship at Newmount. Thank you for Dennis 's life and all the glory and praise he brought to you through all he did.
Amen
