Places to Pause and Think
by Stuart Malkin 15 September 2024
A couple of weeks ago I found myself in hospital and it was a Sunday morning and at my bedside was a hospital Chaplin. The joy of this visit was that he led me in communion something not had for a number of years.
He also gave me a sheet of faith part of which I would like to share with you. Perhaps you may help you as it has me.
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance
Reading Luke 3 v 7 to 9
John said to the crowd coming out to be baptised by him. You brood of vipers. Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance and do not begin to say to yourselves We have Abraham as our father. For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. This Axe is already at the root of the tree.
Reflection
What does the word suggest to me? Read the word again.
Select a word or phrase which moves you or impressed you.
Repeat it to yourself 3 times. Allow a moment of silence for the word to enter your heart. Give yourself a time of silence.
Questions to consider
What can I learn from the passage?
How can I apply it to myself and my situation right now?
How might Iive out the love of God as his child today?.
