Sharing Our Faith Together

Reaching Out

by Ruth Croft 25 September 2022

Philippians 2:4 (from The Message)
Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

Sometimes, when we feel happy or generous, it's easy to do good. Other times, when we're weary or discouraged it can be difficult even to summon up a single kind word, but the instruction in God's Word is clear: we are to think of others and help them, rather than focusing on our own needs and wants.

This week, take time each day to consider something thing God has done for you. As you reflect on it set aside what you want and reach out to help someone in need. I pray you will find an even better reward than when you're looking out for yourself.

Ralph Waldo Emerson sums it up like this -
It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.
