Standing on His Promises

Hebrews 10:36
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

If you have led a life with absolutely no mistakes, disappointments, sadness or problems, you can probably give today's thought a miss! However, if you are like the rest of us, you know that occasional "bumps in the road" are an inevitable part of life. They are simply the price we pay for growing and learning.

The bible gives many examples of the assurances God has given to help His people through difficulties.
He stands close at hand to protect us, “The Lord himself will fight for you.” (Exodus 14:14).

He also takes delight in guiding us, if we ask him, "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13-14)

We can also take comfort in the knowledge that, in the strength of our Creator, we can overcome any obstacle “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13)

This quote from American writer and preacher, Rev Warren Wiersbe, sums it up rather well -
God does not promise to keep us out of the storms and floods, but He does promise to sustain us in the storm, and then bring us out in due time for His glory when the storm has done its work.

Father God, we thank you for the promise of your love, protection, guidance and for giving us Your strength in overcoming challenges. Amen
