John 14:16-17

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive Him, because it cannot see Him or know Him. But you know Him, because He remains with you and is in you.

Recently we remembered the day of Pentecost when God’s promised gift of the Holy Spirit was given. Jesus didn’t leave the disciples alone, He sent the Helper to encourage, teach and enable them. God isn’t a distant God, He lovingly works for us and with us. The Holy Spirit is also called the Counsellor or the Comforter, He is the very presence of God available to help and strengthen us daily.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Paul experienced opposition, suffering, persecution and weakness but he also felt the deep love and compassion of his Heavenly Father. God gave him strength and encouragement to deal with his troubles and that comfort is available to us too if we open our hearts to God.

Psalm 119:50

Your promise revives me, it comforts me in all my troubles.

Life is full of twists and turns, joys and sorrows, blessings and trials. Whatever bend in the road you face, may God remind you that He is with you. Nothing takes Him by surprise. May you be given strength, comfort, hope and faith for the journey as you need them. (Taken from Night Blessings)
