Sharing Our Faith Together

A Prescription for Life in Christ

by Ruth Croft 21 June 2021

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Over the many weeks of lockdown and restrictions, as I have been separated from family and friends and adapted my life to accommodate the various changes and restrictions, I can’t be the only one who has wondered what God’s will is for me. Each time, I have returned to read and ponder these three instructions in Paul’s letter to the church in Thessalonica. It is a reminder that His will for each of us is, simply, to live lives of joy, prayer and thankfulness.

When our hearts are joyful, we are better equipped to bless others. Prayer keeps us tuned in to God’s purposes as we wait on Him. Giving thanks directs our attention away from ourselves and reminds us of his limitless love and faithfulness.

Prayer

Dear Lord, please let our lives reflect these three instructions and our lifestyles be pleasing to you, fulfilling for us and inspiring to others.
