Finding Joy in Times of Trial
by Stuart Malkin 15 February 2021
I recently wrote to two friends that I hadn’t spoken to for some time. In finality I closed with one or two lines which I hope may bring them help at this time. “Spring shows what God can do in a drab and dirty world.”
James 1:2-8
My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is driven and blown about by the wind. If you are like that, unable to make up your mind and undecided in all you do, you must not think that you will receive anything from the Lord.

There is so much we cannot see, but there is much we can see and rejoice in. Spring is certainly one. As we sat out in the garden new life is bursting in magnificent colours. New life in frogs doing what frogs do best, leaving eggs too numerous to count. New life in birds chasing each other, something some have been doing for some time but now is the optimum time.
Our faith sometimes needs a new reminder and perhaps a burst of new life and James recognises it. Through his letters we can read some spiritual and practical ways to live new lives in Christ!

Father God at this time of darkness in the world help those have known you remain In looking for the light in Jesus.
For those who do not know light search out and experience a NEW LIFE.
Amen
