God Our Rock

Psalm 61 (New King James)
Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah
For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
You will prolong the king’s life, His years as many generations.
He shall abide before God forever. Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!
So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows.
Last week I was listening to a Christian speaker on YouTube. I chose the video because it was entitled “It’s ok to freak out”!
He was explaining that during these difficult times of lockdown it’s only natural that we have a moment when we feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s whilst getting used to being furloughed, figuring out how to home school, panic buying or the lack of our normal routines. When we feel like a situation or worry is getting on top of us we need to draw close to our Heavenly Father.
“When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
David was far from home and afraid, he needed God to lead him to a place of stability and security. To a place that was higher than his own wisdom and abilities.
God is with us and He is waiting to hear our prayers, help us and pick us back up again.
Prayer
Heavenly Father we thank that you are over all things and with us in all things. We thank you that in our uncertainties, you are the rock on which we can depend. Help us to keep trusting in you and to keep praising you.
Amen.
