King of the World
by Chris Lane 23 August 2022
In discussion groups, it has often been said that when times are difficult, we try to do things in our own strength before we turn to God. We neglect to turn to Him immediately. Last week I heard this song which made me consider this from a different perspective.
YouTube shows adverts which may not be appropriate to the video we have selected.
How could I forget that you are the King of the World?
How could I try to take my life back out of your hands?
How could I make you so small?
How could I forget that you hold the whole world in your hands, even me?
Yet it is our minds that are small.
It is our thoughts that put a limit on things.
It is our eyes that forget to look up to God.
Psalm 124: 1-6
Lord, you have examined me.
You know all about me.
You know when I sit down and when I get up.
You know my thoughts before I think them.
You know where I go and where I lie down.
You know well everything I do.
Lord, even before I say a word,
you already know what I am going to say.
You are all around me—in front and in back.
You have put your hand on me.
Your knowledge is amazing to me.
It is more than I can understand.
Let us pray
Thank you Father that your word reminds us that you are always there for us.
Thank you Father that you hold onto us every single day.
Every single moment.
We need look nowhere else.
Lord forgive us when we fail to look to you first.
Lord forgive us when we try to limit your power and strength. That power and strength which is so immense it is beyond our comprehension.
May we be so filled by the power of your Holy Spirit that it becomes natural to turn to you straightaway.
For the sake of your Kingdom. Amen.
